SWIMMING CLASSES FOR KIDS IN DUBAI
From first-time water babies to competitive teens, we offer every kind of course for every ability. Our instructors assess each student’s ability and place them in groups of similar abilities, tailoring their teaching to each class.
SWIMMING CLASSES – LET THE KIDS MASTER THE WATER
As for our pool, you have to see it to believe it. Surrounded on three sides by floor-to-ceiling windows, the bright, Olympic pool is a destination in itself. Unlike most pools, it has exceptional acoustics—so it’s just as cool for spectators as it is for swimmers. Swimming itself is a fun, healthy, and a key life skill. It develops:
- Social skills
- Safety in and around water
- Relaxation skills
As far as we’re concerned, it’s never too soon to start swimming. Our baby swimming classes start as early as six months old. But the key ages for developing movement in children are 5-8 for boys and 6-9 for girls—so that’s the crucial time to get them in the water.

JOINING SWIMMING CLASSES FOR THE FIRST TIME?
All first-timers at the swimming classes for kids must come for an assessment before registering for the swimming classes in Dubai for kids. This way coaches can make sure that the kids receive the right training for their skill level.

Babies - 6 months - 2 years (30 minutes)
(Parental participation is required) (Class Ratio – 6:1)
Fostering independent swimming and improving breathe control is stimulated with exposure to various water awareness positions, back float techniques and independent play are all encouraged by instilling verbal and manipulative propulsion. Independent swimming is encouraged at this level, comprising of two 30 minute sessions per week, with parents enjoying a swimming class with their children. Monkey circuits and swimming skill movement stimulus are developed with word action recognition.
Toddlers - 2 years - 4 years (30 minutes)
(Parental participation is required) (Class Ratio – 6:1)
Parents enjoy a swimming class with their children for one or two 30 minutes sessions per week which increases the ability of unaided swimming. Independence within floating, breathe control and paddling are all refined within a safe and fun environment. Introduction of equipment such as kickboards and goggles are strongly encouraged at this level of swimming.
Learn to swim (LTS) (30 minutes)
Basic swimming skills of floating, breath control, freestyle and backstroke introduction are structured within these classes, designed for non-swimming students 5 years old and above. Dolphin kick and survival skills are at an introductory level as a part of the swimming classes with the focus always being of a fun nature. The classes have children grouped competently from level 1 to level 3 depending on their ability. The major objectives are to develop quality freestyle and backstroke skills.
Transition (Ratio 6:1) (30 minutes)
Refinement of all strokes and techniques with the main focus being the stamina of students with two 30min sessions a week, swimming the full 25m. Along the course of the swimming classes, the students will be introduced into squad swimming and being in a team environment. Speed and stamina will be pushed in order to enhance race skills and attitudes.
Turtles Mini-squad (Ratio 8:1) (45 minutes)
Introduction of stroke proficiency will increase until an advanced level. The introduction to individual medley will provide students with the full coverage of all swimming strokes. Drills and technique will be pushed to increase speed and stamina to a higher level. Race training will reach the point where students will compete with each other. Starts turns, underwater, and finishes will be well developed to prepare for the next level.
Seal Mini-squad (Ratio 10:1) (60 minutes)
Students in seals are competent swimmers and are comfortable in all strokes. To qualify for this mini squad, students must be 8 years old, and able to attend two 1 hour sessions swimming classes a week. Competitive swimming will be a strong focus of the seal squad. Stroke efficiency, advanced racing techniques, and squad etiquette will be practiced and perfected so that students can move into the top squads, to achieve their swimming dreams and goals.
Recreational age groups (60 minutes)
The aim of the junior squad and recreational age group is to improve swimming fitness whilst correcting stroke technique and learning stroke correcting drills. Swimmers will also be introduced to basic training techniques. The junior and recreational age is ideal for swimmers who do not want to commit to training or competition and also for swimmers who have developed their swimming late. Swimmers for both junior and recreational age are selected purely on ability. Age is a guideline only, but it is important that swimmers are at the correct level. They must be able to swim 50m of good technique in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and 25m of competent butterfly. All of this will be at the coach’s discretion at our swimming school. The swimmer must attempt tumble turns on freestyle and backstroke, streamline and attempt dolphin kicks from each push off, have basic lane discipline, e.g. using the pace clock, streamlining, following instructions, leaving five-second gaps in between each swimmer, attitude, application, and execution.
Recreational Youth Squad (60 minutes)
The aim of the recreational youth squad is to enhance the basic training skills learned in previous squads and to ensure that each swimmer learns correct technique on stroke, starts and turns. A bigger focus is made on swimming fitness, making it a more challenging but fun environment. Swimmers will be encouraged to enter local swimming competitions. Swimmers for both Junior, recreational age and youth squads are selected purely on ability. Age is a guideline only, but it is important that swimmers are at the correct level. Swimmers must be able to swim efficiently for 200m non-stop, in Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke and 50m of good technique in Butterfly. All of this will be at the coach’s discretion at our swimming school. Swimmers must be legal on starts and turns on all strokes in line with competition rules, be able to swim 200m IM (individual medley) under 5 mins. All swimmers must have basic lane discipline, e.g. using the pace clock, streamlining, following instructions, leaving five-second gaps in between each swimmer, attitude, application, and execution.
Junior Squad - 7 years - 12 years (60 minutes)
Swimmers ages vary from 7 to 12 years as the level is based on the child’s skill set rather than age. The swimming class runs for 1 hour and students are required to be able to swim all 4 strokes efficiently for 50m. Whilst some stroke correction is focused on, the main aim of this swimming class is to increase speed whilst focusing on holding a stroke technique throughout. This is a great way for pre-teens to keep fit and enjoy the aspects of belonging to a recreational Swim Squad.
Competition Junior Squad (60 minutes)
The aim of the competition junior squad is to introduce young swimmers to competitive swimming whilst promoting good sportsmanship, encouraging competition and developing stroke technique skills, in a fun environment. Swimmers must be able to swim 100m of good technique Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and 50m Butterfly. All of this will be at the coach’s discretion at our swimming school. Tumble turns on Freestyle and Backstroke must be executed within competition regulations, streamline and attempt dolphin kick-off from each push off. Swimmers must have a basic understanding on how to use the pace clock and swimming within a group and must commit to the required amount of training sessions.
Competition Age Squad (60 minutes)
The aim of the competition age squad is to promote good sportsmanship, encourage competition, and develop stroke technique and swimming skills, in a fun environment. Swimmers must be able to perform 200m at a competent level of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly. All of this will be at the coach’s discretion. Have a good tumble turn technique on Freestyle and Backstroke, be streamline and attempt dolphin kicks from of each push-off. Swimmers must have basic lane discipline, e.g. using the pace clock, streamlining, following instructions, leaving five second gaps in between each swimmer, attitude, application and execution and commit to the required amount of training sessions.
Competition Youth Squad (90 minutes)
The aim of the competition youth squad is to educate swimmers about the correct training pathways and develop drills, stroke technique, starts and turns. The training environment at our swimming school remains fun, however the introduction of how to compete, win and lose with respect for rules and officials is emphasized with swimmers aiming to compete and achieve at a local and regional level. Swimmers will be introduced to land work exercises to help strengthen and prevent injuries. Swimmers shall be talent identified by the Head Coach or the Head Development Coach and fed into the youth squad based on competition performance, training ability, commitment, long term potential and listening skills. Commitment to competition and training is a must and swimmers must be able to swim all four strokes over all distances in training and competition and execute good technique and drills, complete 10 x 50 Kick in 1.15 mins, perform 1x200m IM in under 3.30 mins and 1x200m free under 3 mins. Coaches’ discretion is based on talent identification and long term potential.
Olympic Development Squad (90 minutes)
The aim of the Olympic Development squad is to bridge the gap between the Competition Youth squad and the Olympic Squad. There is still a strong emphasis on stroke technique, but continues to build on the fundamentals of training. The group is required to meet six times per week and is introduced to advanced training methods and also has the opportunity to attend one early morning swimming practice with the Olympic squad to help foster a fun and competitive environment. The group has a strong emphasis on training and competing in each practice. The latest and most advanced skills and drills are taught to this group. Race strategy is refined in the Olympic Development group and competition preparedness is emphasized. Our swimming coaches aim to continue the spirit of a team environment and strive to create a fun and passionate group.
Olympic Squad (90 minutes and 120 minutes)
The aim of the Olympic Squad is to create an elite training environment, to enable a correct pathway into youth and senior swimming in line with the long-term athlete development plan, but along the way ensuring maximum performance to an age group national championship level. The swimmers will be supported by services such as strength and conditioning sessions. This squad is for swimmers with no other commitments or distractions other than school. If swimmers cannot commit to the training, they should move to the Competition Youth Squad and their place will be offered to another more dedicated swimmer. Swimmers will have long term potential to compete at a Junior or Senior international level. Full commitment, a great attitude, communication, racing and training ability is required to swimming competition and training. They must have the ability to swim all strokes over all distances in training and competition, executing good technique and drills across all four strokes. The kick average must be under 1.40 mins per 100m (Based on 400, 300, 200, 100 kick test set). Swimmers will perform 1x200m IM in under 2.45 mins and 1x400m Free under 5 mins. Coaches’ discretion will be based on talent identification and long term potential.
